The All Party Parliamentary Group on Women's Rights
Promoting and supporting the rights of women and girls across the UK and the world
The APPG on Women’s Rights is a neutral, cross-party forum for debate, discussion and learning within Parliament. The Group was founded by MPs and Peers who want to promote and support the rights of women and girls.
Women have made important gains in their sex-based rights over the last century, making strides towards equality in sport, health and social care, justice and education. Despite this, in practice, women and girls have faced an erosion of their rights over the last decade or so.
Our purpose is to ensure that national and global issues relating to women and girls are permanently part of the government’s agenda and the wider national conversation about human rights and equality. We believe that equality for all, is best served by discussion and debate and reliant on the very best research and data. We are hopeful that this group will raise the level of respectful debate in Parliament and inform parliamentarians through discussion with experts.
